Are you interested in coming to our church to see what it’s all about, but not sure what to expect? Here are some helpful tips.
This is the door you will enter for worship services. Parking is plentiful around the church. Park near these doors for the shortest hike.

If you come during the week, you will need to enter through the door pictured below. Press the Ring button there on the left side of the door, wait a moment, and then pull the door because the person in the office might be trying to let you in. You may hear a slight click when the door unlocks, otherwise, there is no notification that the doors are now unlocked. Close the door behind you and the door will automatically relock.

Wear what you want to wear. Get fancy or be casual, and anything in-between. No need to tie your clothing to gender norms. You be you.
We like to sing and most of it is traditional hymns. We have an amazing pianist, two incredible organists, and a talented guitar player along with folks who help lead the singing.
Our worship is structured around liturgy and a three-year cycle of biblical readings. We’ll give you plenty of directions. The sermons relate to our lives and our times—unless the pastor is having a bad week. Then you never know what you’ll hear. But it will still be inspiring.
The doors are open for everyone. We have wheelchairs available, a chair lift for those who have a difficult time walking, a ramp for walkers and anyone who doesn’t take the stairs, an accessible bathroom if you’re on wheels, and awesome activity bags for kids. Kids are invited to be kids—we don’t care if they make a little noise. Some of our adults make a little noise too. (You know who you are!) There is a play space in the sanctuary for kids, with lots of books, blocks, and other toys.
When you come in, you’ll be greeted and handed a bulletin. You can pick where you sit.
Our morning services are hybrid—online and in-person. If you don’t want to appear in any videos, you’ll want to sit in the triangular section of our sanctuary, affectionately called “the pie.” Communion will be offered in that section as well.
We laugh a lot at our church. Sometimes the pastor says funny things. Sometimes accidentally.
When it comes time for communion, you are welcome to commune and join us. That includes other denominations and children of any age. We believe it is God’s table that we gather around and that all are welcome. We use intinction cups (dip the host or bread into the cup). We have wine or grape juice, wheat wafers, even gluten-free wafers. The wafers don’t taste awesome, but Jesus still promises to be present in the meal.
Our faith is in God as Holy Trinity—Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer. We also believe in God’s gifts of science. That means we look to our scriptures as the inspired Word of God, not as a history or science book. We don’t pretend to have all the answers and are a little wary of those who do.
We are big on figuring out how our faith is alive in our everyday lives—loving neighbors and loving enemies. We give away a lot of our offerings to feed people, locally and around the world.
A children’s message is offered, just after the Prayer of the Day. Kids don’t have to come up unless they want to and parents and grandparents, and anyone feeling young at heart are welcome to join them. The first Sunday of the month is Youth Sunday and kids stay in worship and assist with various roles if they want to. The other Sundays they are welcome to go to Sunday School (ages 3-9) or Confirmation Class (10-14).
Morning worship is at 9:30 am Sundays and it’s usually an hour and 15 minutes, often followed by baked goods and coffee. It’s ok if you’re late for church. As long as you’re there by communion time (about 45 minutes), you’ll experience the best part! Please know during special holidays this service may be at a different time. The service may also be bilingual as we worship with the other congregation that meets here, Holy Cross/Santa Cruz. We do our best to have announcements about these changes on the main page here.
We also offer an evening service at 5 pm. This is convenient if you just got back in town and still want to attend a service. This service is a much usually a smaller gathering that allows for a more intimate gathering.
Whichever service you choose, we look forward to seeing you!
