Dear Trinity Community,

Due to the corona virus situation in the country, and following the orders of the Governor of Oregon, the Church Council and staff have cancelled services and activities at Trinity through April 15, 2020. However the costs of maintaining the Church and supporting its employees remains a responsibility of the congregation.  The Council requests that you mail in to the Church office whatever your normal contribution is. Some of you already contribute monthly by direct bank transfer and hopefully this will continue. Members who don’t already use this convenience may want to explore doing so. It is very easy to donate online at

If you need assistance with online giving, please contact Rachel in the church office at

We hope closing church services can help forestall more widespread transmission of this virus and help save lives and we hope our members remain healthy and can sustain Trinity during this difficult time.

Al Parr, Council President, for the Church Council.

Since we are unable to worship together face to face, we made this video mini-worship instead.

We are passing the virtual offering plate here —

We hope to see everyone again as soon as possible!

Hello friends of Trinity,
Many things have changed in the last 24 hours and continue to happen moment to moment. As a result, we wanted to reach out to let you know what is happening at Trinity regarding the Coronavirus.

First, all services and activities are cancelled this week, starting today, thru next Friday, March 20.

It is uncertain at this time if the memorial for Roger Germundson will go on or be rescheduled. We will let you know as soon as a decision is made.

We are doing all we can to follow the CDC guidelines as well as the recommendations from the Oregon Bishop and ELCA Churchwide.

We will be reassessing the situation each week on Wednesdays and will let everyone know what we decide on Thursday mornings.

You will be able to call the church phone at 503-665-3197 for a recorded message of these updates, as well as finding them online at
We will also be calling to check in on a weekly basis with these updates.
This will be a time of disruption, but we are also called to continue to live as faithful people of God. So we also would like to remind everyone that we have a donate button on our website and we encourage everyone to continue their normal weekly support as we work together to get through this.

We will be using this time to try out ways of sharing in worship online. This weekend we will release a short worship video on Sunday. We will also be looking at livestream worship services if this time of physically distancing continues.

If you need assistance accessing resources online, please contact Rachel in the office (either at or 503-665-3197) and she is happy to help.

If you have the time and ability, we can use your help in two ways.

First, we are going to have a church clean up on Monday, March 16, at 10 am. We are looking for a small group to help us disinfect the upstairs of the building. We thank Holy Cross Santa Cruz who have volunteered to clean the downstairs.

Second, during this time we will be maintaining a phone tree to keep in touch with everyone. If you can be a caller for this project, please contact Rachel to receive a list of people to stay in contact with.

In closing we would like to share a prayer courtesy of St. Mary’s Academy in Portland …

Prayer for a Pandemic
May we who are merely inconvenienced remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors remember those most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working from home remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent.
May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips remember those that have no safe place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market remember those who have no margin at all.
May we who settle in for a quarantine at home remember those who have no home.
As fear grips our country, let us choose love.
During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors.

— Pastor Glenn Chase

PS from Rachel – Since we are new to streaming we cannot yet have a custom web address (hence the long address of We will, however, be able to get a custom address if, after a month of streaming, we have at least 100 subscribers on YouTube. So, if you can please SUBSCRIBE to our channel, and tell your friends to subscribe, that will help us make this easier in the long run. Thanks!
